"Fall color in the hills of Southern Indiana," "a challenge but a great race," "can't begin to tell you how wonderful the race was" according to some regular and new participants. Join the party after the race! Fresh cider (cold or hot-spiced) and fruit; hot soup and coffee and donuts and other snacks.

Camp in Morgan-Monroe State Forest: self-registration, no need to reserve, primitive sites, $5/night (765/342-4026). Location

Morgan-Monroe State Forest is located 35 miles south of Indianapolis. Take U.S. 37 south from I-465. Just 4 miles south of Martinsville, watch for the State Forest/Race sign. Follow race signs to Walls shelter. No forest entrance or parking fee; park along Forest Road.

Course

Courses follow forest trails, and have long level stretches with some steep hills, although ascents are tempered by switchbacks. 5K race has only small hills. Trails are "extremely well marked" according to frequent runner. Trails groomed for safety. Five water stops, with radio communications.
